I know that it's our duty, but man, I really don't love having jury duty. I had it today. At the big courthouse in Santa Ana. Two large groups were called first, the first for a 13 day trial, the second for a 10 day trial. I narrowly escaped going on those because my employer only pays for 40 hours. These required jurors to get paid 10 days from employers. Whew.
Sometime before lunch a group of us (including myself) were called to a courtroom. Maybe 5 minutes of waiting outside the courtroom to enter, the bailiff came out and announced that the case had been resolved and that we could return to the juror room. Whew again!
The rest of the day was just hearing people get their names called and feeling sorry for them, but lucky for me. This courthouse was actually pretty cool, compared to Westminster. They have a cafeteria right outside the juror room. Plus they show a movie during lunch time. Today it was The Invasion with Nicole Kidman. It was pretty good. Anything would have been good though. Anything to get my mind off of my numbing butt.

We must be psychically bonded... I got called for jury duty in just a couple weeks myself... don't mind it, but I still have to put in a full day's work after (there is no one I can sluff off my responsibilities to, thanks to cutbacks and such...)
