So, I decided to fly up to Washington next weekend to stay with my parents. Basically I'm forcing them to spend time with me. I haven't seen my dad since I left home in 1997, 12 years ago. That's a lot of time. I saw my mom at her father's funeral, that was in 99. I drove down from Minnesota with my ex-mother-in-law to North Carolina for that funeral. My mom had flown out from wherever she was living at the time, her first time on a plane.
A lot has happened with my life since then, stuff they have no idea about. And that's ok, but, if I ever want to see my parents again, I'm just going to have to drop in on them and force them to let me sleep on the couch for a weekend. I talked to my mom today on the phone for the first time in a few years. She seemed concerned about why I wanted to come and see them. She asked me what was wrong because the only way they can "associate" with me is if there's some sort of problem or there's a death.

My oldest brother Steven just went back home to Norco, about 35 minutes from here, he was staying with us for a few days. I liked it. Especially since he's the only family I have. We got to know each other a lot better, with him being the oldest, he was moved out from the house before I was old enough to "hang out" with him. I was sad when he left. But hopefully he'll visit again soon.
